LONDON MARATHON
On Sunday 13 April, more than 35000 people will run through the streets of London for the 34th London Marathon.
The race:
The London Marathon is a flat course around the River Thames over a distance of 42195km. There are different starting points, but all of the courses join up and all runners finish on The Mall, by St James's Park.
The prizes:
Some runers make money from the Marathon. Prizes start at around 730 euros for twelfth place and can go up to 40000 euros. Winners can also get big bonuses if they break a record.
Slow:
One Englishman took five days, eight hours, 29 minutes and 46 seconds. He wore a 50kg diving suit and shoes weighing 11kg each!
